National
Pure Water Association Campaign for Safe Drinking Water Founded in England,
1960
Are you at
risk?
Scotland and Wales are not
fluoridated (yet) but approximately five million people in England
live in areas that have drinking water that is polluted with
fluoride.
You are one of them if you
live in one of the following Postal Districts.
These
districts have naturally-fluoridated water at more than 0.5 ppm:
Durham:
DH1, 2, part of 6
Essex:
CO1-6, 8-10
Lincolnshire:
Part of LN13
Peterborough:
PE2, 4
Suffolk:
IP1-8, 13, 14, 28 to 30, 33
Teesside:
TS27, 28
Tyneside:
NE25, 26, 29; part of NE30
These
districts have artificially fluoridated drinking water:
Fluoride is the thirteenth
most abundant element, so it is impossible to remove it all. But you
can reduce the risk of getting an overdose by taking the following
precautions.
Avoid anything that you know contains fluoride
Use fluoride free toothpaste:
Boot's Non-fluoride, Tom's,
Tea Tree, Sarakan, Kingfisher Natural Propolis, Weleda, Aloedent and
others, available from supermarkets, Boot's the Chemist and health
food shops
Eat foods low in fluoride:
milk, eggs, red meats (not
organs), fruit with a protective rind (watermelon, lemon, banana,
coconut), fruits packed in their own juices (pineapple) and those
canned in non-fluoridated or low-fluoridated countries
Don't drink tea:
Tea contains between 4.4 and 12 ppm of
fluoride. just one cup can be enough for an overdose.
take vitamin B6 and C supplements
Take supplements of calcium and magnesium salts
to help
reduce fluoride absorption from the stomach and assist in
elimination
Maintain good general and dental health
with varied
vegetables (lightly cooked or raw), fresh fruits, and pulses. Reduce
intakes of starches and sugars
Stay away from areas that fluoridate water supplies,
(see
list above)
Avoid using non-stick kitchen ware:
Non-stick coatings,
such as Teflon, are made of fluoride. Scrapes and other damage can
release a significant amount of fluoride into cooking.
Avoid fluoridecontaining drugs : If you are taking the following,
contact your doctor for a fluoride-free alternative: Prozac (fluoxetine),
Rohypnol (flunitrazepam), Diflucan (fluconazole, Flixonase or Flixotide
(fluticasone), Stelazine (trifluoperazine, Fluanxol or Depixol (flupenthixol)
or Floxapen (flucloxacillin) and asthma drugs that use propellants containg
fluoride: Ventolin and Becotide
Contact your local water authority for analysis figures of your water's
fluoride content If it is more than 0.4ppm, install a water purification system
that removes fluoride, by contacting:
NOTE: before taking the test, avoid all fluoridated water (use
distilled, other non-fluoridated or low-fluoride water), fluoridated drinks
(tea), fluoride-rich food (ocean fish, gelatine, chicken skin), fluoridated
toothpaste and any other source of environmental fluoride, like cigarette
smoke and industrial pollution
If your symptoms are caused by fluoride, you should notice a marked improvement
within days or weeks. And symptoms will return once you are re-exposed
to source of fluoride.
